About Us

Who Are We

The same team that developed the ground-breaking Hach AF7000 is back with the AccuFloc AF9000.

DBG-IP Ltd is a specialist independent instrument development company based in Auckland, NZ. We trade as The AccuFloc Company marketing the AF9000 as the next generation instrument to the AccuFloc and Hach AF7000. We do not manufacture and license JWB Engineering Ltd. to manufacture. We have extensive knowledge of the Streaming Current Measurement technology in house with our Dan Edney having been awarded his PhD with his work on streaming current during the development of the original AccuFloc instrument, Brett Hellier and Grant Bowring have extensive market, sales, application, engineering and manufacturing expertise.

History

2003 – AccuFloc

The AccuFloc Streaming Current Measurement was originally developed by Accurate Measurement (NZ) Ltd. The first AccuFloc sales were mid-2003. The key people involved were Brett Hellier and Dan Edney from Accurate and Grant Bowring of JWB. The AccuFloc was then the 4th generation of SCM developed by the Accurate team and manufactured in Auckland NZ by JWB Engineering Ltd. It was a unique SCM in the way we processed the signal using Fast Fourier Transformer (FFT) which helped client understanding, massively improved performance and response times and enabled the single push button calibration of the zero (target) with automatically set span. Even now in 2025 no other supplier uses FFT. Accurate went to market direct in NZ and AU and the rest of the world via our distribution partners.

A Key Milestone

2009, in association with our key Asian partner we won the largest water project for Streaming Current Measurement’s at this time – 68 AccuFloc units for Borneo in Malaysia.

2011 - Hach purchases the AccuFloc SCM

Hach purchases the AccuFloc SCM, relabels the AccuFloc as the Hach AF7000 and incorporates into the Hach catalogue. The AF7000 continues to be manufactured in NZ by JWB Engineering for Hach until 2025. AccuFloc and Hach AF7000 has been a very successful instrument with many 1,000’s having been installed worldwide by the water treatment industry.

2022 – DBG-IP Ltd begins the development of the AccuFloc AF9000.

The original team of Brett, Dan and Grant come together to drive the development. We understood the SCM market, the growth potential available due to tightening world water quality standards and that there is no effective way to control the coagulation process in a Water Treatment plant without a SCM. We knew the issues with all models available in the market – the largest being the mechanics – for example, a typical SCM does approx. 2.6million piston strokes a day which is 949million stroke a year. Up until now all SCM’s available use an electric motor driving a rotary cam to drive a vertical piston. Issues created are heat, wear and breakage which in turn results in high maintenance, operating costs and reliability issues.

Unique drive developed – our Linear Magnetic Drive (Patent Pending) was developed to solve this issue. Our Linear Magnetic Drive (Patent Pending) is frictionless, wear and maintenance free, creates minimal heat and virtually no noise, solving the largest industry complaint.

2024 - Mid-May

DBG-IP presents the AF9000 development to Hach as the next generation SCM to replace the Hach AF7000 which is currently at the end of life due to component supply difficulties. We work with Hach until 24 Jan 2025 when Hach decided to exit the SCM market completely after suppling the remaining available AF7000 units.

There have been many thousands of AccuFloc and AF7000 SCM’s installed in the global market, these will require support and the option for a new model to upgrade to in this same product series, we are available to assist.

2025 - AccuFloc AF9000

AccuFloc AF9000 by DBG-IP goes to market direct in NZ and globally via distribution partners. JWB Engineering is licensed to manufacture the AccuFloc AF9000 and will continue to provide a high-quality instrument as they have done for the AccuFloc and the Hach AF7000.

We are happy to support all clients, maintain their Hach AF7000 and provide a direct replacement upgrade with the AccuFloc AF9000 when the time is right.
